OK has anyone had a go at dismantling a 1742 pattern hanger? I was wandering if it would be possible to cast alternative types of brass grips such as those on the Royal Welch Fuzileer hangers for a bit of variety? MarkP

hello, well, I have made quite a few swords,, period . viking through to about 1500... the main problem in this time period is mainly the way swords were used,, hack and slash,, mainly with the scottish basket hilted, but more your fencing style by others,,, and yes,, the hilts are a pain to do,,, hence why I don,t do any for this period.

Oh dear, glegz123 my friend, it must have been some time ago....the best tube for the Wallace Collection is Bond St. Please don't go to Bank, as you'll have a bit of a hike.
Also, the good news is that the Tower Armoury in Leeds now has free entry (huzzah!). On the down side, what used to be free parking is no longer so. You win some, you lose some!

I've seen those in the UK, but can I find them now....! Roy King in Sussex may have some - he does have a very nice period sword at the moment, but it is lacking th efinger rings (can't think of the style) with a very pointy and downright lethal blade. If interested, Roy's contact details can be found at www.roy-king.com

I've got a REALLy nice small sword, but as it has a metal lined scabbard it bent when I died at RGPM last year. Any one know any one who could make me a new one. I only do leather or wood lined ones, and that wouldn't suit.

Our weapons are sharp - it's not really the period for sword heroes

It's very sharp and very real and like I'd ever pose. It's the scabbard that bent not the sword.
