My name is Lester and I've been re-enacting for over 10 years. I was in NFOE but left to do Romans. Now I portray a courier de bois. The abuse my body has taken over the years has finally caught up with me so now I intend to sit round the campfire talking about it (no change there then).

Hi my name is Dave. I have spent the past couple of years doing Dillons with Lace Wars and after chatting to folks and having a go at Blasts from the Past earlier in the year have decided to join the french marines. Maybe in the future desert to the Red team once in a while to get my "fix."

Hi all,
Ok, my hands are up, I'm not a member but last summer I bumped into your ranger group at the Military Odyssey and have finally got around to doing something about joining, this seemed like a good start.
Anyhow, hope I'm not interloping too much and I hope I'll see some of you at an event soon. Stoof

Hi everyone, my names Andy and I've just joined NFOE this season, after being tempted to join by an old friend. Like many on here, I'm a bit of a seasoned campaigner, having taken part in living history with various groups over the last twenty years. I'm also with the 69thNYSV in ACWS, and am in Gells Regt (SK). I've been busy sewing kit, leather-working and collecting all the bits and bobs I'll be needing for my colonial militia impression(I've joined Berks Co. Militia), but as always I suppose I'll never be happy with it(I'm always trying to get it better whatever period I do!!). Anyway, see you all at Rough Close!

Welcome aboard Andy. Your copy of the NFOE newsletter 'Outpost' and the Warning Order for Rough Close went in the post at lunchtime.
See you at Rough Close.

Many thanks for that Ian, I think Rough Close is about the most local event I'm doing this season! Biffa - my days of dashing cavalry charges ended a few years ago, I'm an out and out footslogger now!

Hi my name is James Brewerton, I have never done any reenactment before but have been a wargamer and history junkie for 25 years. I have always played the SYW and have just started building units for the FIW. I am very keen to give living history a try and will be trying to get along to one of your shows this year and join in the fun next season. My Dad may even get involved after he retires next year. anyway no one will read this for a few days as you are all at a show ATM, hope you have fun was planing to come on over and meet you in person but am feeling under the weather so will not make it. If you are wondering why I am posting this so early its cos I am a night shift worker (on my last night this week )
Peace James

Hi everyone, I'm Mick, from Leicester and I joined the forum to really get answers for some questions concerning the civilian/militiamen (French) who fought alongside the Indians - the so-called 'Men of the Woods'. Called, I believe, 'Collot or Corot(?) du Bois? What were they called? Who were they? Did they dress as civilians? Do we know who led them? Etc, etc. any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

Ex member of NFOE back in early 2000s when I first met a Native at Bath and was recruited by a guy called Ralph Mitchard I think. Did a couple of gigs one private one at Usk, great time, but then life went a bit 'Tango Uniform' for me and I had to put reenactment on hold for a while. Got back into it via Vietnam War and American West, back in the swing now and getting 18th cent kit together. Big chats with 18th cent folks in the states, I think it will be the way forward at my late stage in life (cue violin) so I may be knocking on your door soon.
