Soooooo, here we are again, ready and raring to go at the beginning of another season. I hope everyone is looking forward to getting their kit out, giving it a final pre-season check and then heading off to darkest Wiltshire for this weekend's first event of the year. Time to shake off the doom and gloom - at least for a weekend - and get back to doing what we love to do - dressing up 1750s style. And by the way, I'm in a positive mood at the moment so please don't post a reply here if you are not able to come!I don't want my current enthusiasm crushed too quickly This is a negativity free zone. Salut!! La Plume

What a truly magnificent and brilliant weekend!!!!!!!!The setting was excellent. Geoff, where the hell were you? ? We had a clearing that just screamed Dingo and Geoff. The expanded show and tell with additional fighting techniques was real fun. I hope the french took note of how real musketry drill should be performed? ;D It was so nice to see all the 60th out for the first event. I felt very proud to be wearing blue facings this weekend. May it continue in the manner it has started. A see a good strong regiment in the making here. 18th Century games being played in the camp were too much fun for words. Indian Murder Ball was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cpl Dave and Myself vs 3 adversaries. Out numbered we still prevailed. (Then collapsed in a heap aftereards!) The Govt. Forces also retained their Trap Ball Title. Despite the French cheating and Will's Heroics. Ian made a name for himself as the one to 'Aim' for. The weekend, for me, concluded with a splendid woodland ambush. Sheldon 'I can sneak LOUDER than anyone else' Green lead the way. This meant us brits heard them coming and were quite prepared. The french attempted an attck from the rear (no change I hear you say!). They managed to prevail due to having discovered magical ressurrection. What a bloody marvelous weekend. Hip Hip Huzzah!

May I echo Mike’s comments, a great weekend all round. Camaraderie was rife and everyone was in high spirits, and each of the units; British Regulars, French Regulars, Rangers, Provincials, Militia and Native forces worked really well together. My thanks in particular to the Ranger’s for taking part in sentry duty.
I really enjoyed the small scale woodland skirmishes. Perhaps the French will now adopt platoon firing to combat any more Banzai charges by the Royal Americans.

Fantastic - glad it was brilliant. It was last time I was there, and I would love to go back again.
It was a shame the weekend clashes with me competing against the army and police in Sunday (Inter services challenge) and little girls on the Monday (they soundly beat me) otherwise I would have been in like Flynn.
Ralph Mitchard wrote a very nice review on his blog BTW. He particularly liked the 60th.

Marine whimpout no3...
Sadly the event clashed with a wedding that Dingo and I had to attend, his illness wasn't helped by his party hard attitude (headbutting the usher at the evening do), I was sadly holed up in the hotel with my two little monsters while my Mrs joined in the fun! I remember watching television on Saturday night with them screaming wishing I was there with you all.
Dingo was then packed off to the hospital on Sunday (he's actually telling the truth), I laughed. The doctor actually said he could have died, honestly, the throat thing not the headbutting... it was a serious quinsy???
I had hoped to get there for the Monday but grief involving my Mrs at Lloyds v HSBOs meant that she was on a flight to Scotland 4am Monday for a meeting, leaving me yet again with said monsters.
As Mr Party said 'we'll be at the next one'.

(headbutting the usher at the evening do), He wasn't wearing a Saye and Sele's coat was he? That always used to set Dingo off. Like showing Father Jack a Nun.
