At last some sense appears to be prevailing regarding 'Acquire Only' Black Powder licences - well at least in the Metropolitan Police area. I have just been informed by my local firearms team that from now on 'Acquire' licences will run concurrently with your shotgun licence. Up till now an 'Acquire' licence had to be renewed anniually which was a bit of a pain but now it will run for 5 years alongside your shotgun licence. Good news.

Nope, theres nothing that combines them together on this, its an entire post code lottery. I've just renewed my shotgun license and they've decided to lump all my guns and all Linda's guns onto the two licenses so that either person can use and transport any of the guns in any cabinet. a total nightmare when it comes to the sale or purchase of weapons....which is the idea of course. Remember the government saying it would make shotguns harder to get hold of two years ago and remember them telling us they would do this with the utmost consideration........yeah right.
I've got acquire and keep and that too is totally whenever they issue it and then when that date runs out........theres no question of seperate departments talking to each other yet......!!!!

I was talking to my firearms officer just last week and he said something like this but he was hazy on detail and gave the impression that re-enactment groups had to sign up to some kind of database so it's members could have the longer licence. I think he was as confused as I was.
