Hi everyone.
The Cliveden event site meeting finally took place on Tuesday and the site plan was only issued last night (21 Aug). Inevitably this means all the event information will get to you a little later than normal - but rest assured it will be with you as soon as everything comes back from printing and can be posted.
In the meantime I can confirm we have an excellent battlefield to fight on and our camp will back on to that of Lace Wars.
Salut!

As far as I'm aware, it's NT policy not to have beer tents (there wasn't one last year). So stock up.

Hi Everyone
Well, I guess that was not the end of season event that we'd all hoped for. For those of you that didn't make it, the event was cancelled early Saturday morning. The heavy rain on Friday that coincided with the arrival of most re-enactors destroyed the ground making movement by vehicle on site almost impossible. Sadly some re-enactors had to be turned away during the night. It was clear by Saturday morning that the influx of thousands of visitors over the weekend just could not be accomodated so the organisers had to pull the plug. Unfortunate, but there was no alternative.
Those who stayed on had a relaxing weekend as there was little more rain. It proved a good chance to catch up on drill and the AGM went ahead without any problems to report, and there appeared to be plenty of food to eat, drink to drink and wood to burn . Everyone seemed to have fun but just a pity we couldn't take the field as co-operation with Lace Wars meant both socities would probably have fielded their largest turnouts ever.
C'est la vie.
Salut! La Plume
