Judith,
I know a lady in this country who stocks lots of various tapes braids and lace. There all Wyedean Weavers, end of runs, odd bits etc so their quality is second to none. All are price around a £1 per yard.
I've just got some worsted and some gold Bias & Stand. She has bags of assorted stuff, invariably she doesn't always know what she has got.
If you want her details, let me know (& anyone else in NFOE) and I'll pass them on. I wont post it on the open forum as she is a veritable gold mine and I dont want my source to dry up!
All the best Simon

Yes, please Simon,
I use 3/4 " worsted wool tape to bind work'd pocketbooks and 1" or 1 1/4" to bind petticoats.- natural so I can dye it myself, although I have used pre-coloured. I've also used this to trim hats.
I use 1/4" wool tape for the band on my great wheel-although I've already ordered that so am unlikely to need more.
I use the Dutch linnen tape in various widths for things too numerous to mention. ;D
The very wide flat heavy linen tape I use for lots of purposes inc. binding the edges of oiled linen for a shelter.
The 'lucet' braided tape I have used for stay lacing although my stay lace at present is leather at the back and linen tape.
So any cheap and close supplier of long lengths of authentic tape would be good!
Best,
Judith

I have just taken delivery of a parcel of staff from Jas Townsend which I pretty pleased with. However, I have had to pay tax on it (as a law-abiding citizen, not a problem!), but the bit which made my eyes water was Parcel Force charging a 'Clearance Fee', whatever that is, which was almost as much as the tax itself.

Yeah Parcel Force/post office charge £8 to collect the revenue. Now they even send you a letter, to say they have it at the depot, when do you want it delivered? or we'll send it back!! OR they will deliver it on Saturday for an extra £12...downer!!
Printed material incurrs no fees - but if marked as "books", could cost you.
Worst case senario = $ = £ (-10%)....thats what you pay...53p to the dollar...not so cheap after all. good Luck Simon

www.trackofthewolf.comWould highly recommend these peeps if you require trade silver (or pewter), at a very reasonable price. My bits and pieces...including a scrumptious silver cross of lorraine, arrived within a week! They do lots of things, including muzzleloading supplies, though obviously I have not ordered anything bangy-stick related from them!
